EMPOWERING FOREST FRONTLINES

The One-Day Conference “Empowering Forest Frontlines,” organized by the Punjab Forest Department on August 7, 2025, brought together senior forest officers, policymakers, researchers, and representatives of international organizations to collaboratively develop a robust forest strategy addressing contemporary challenges in sustainable forestry. Centered on the theme “Strategy, Surveillance, Sustainability,” the event focused on rethinking forest conservation and management in response to critical issues such as climate change, biodiversity loss, and operational challenges, fostering collective knowledge to enhance the department’s efforts.

Objectives

The “Empowering Forest Frontlines” conference, organized by the Punjab Forest Department, aimed to review the progress of forestry programs in Punjab, identify operational, conservation, and enhancement challenges, and develop a roadmap for long-term sustainable forestry practices, while showcasing modern technologies like GIS and AI to enhance forest management and fostering stronger collaboration with NGOs, academia, and international partners to facilitate knowledge exchange and coordinated efforts toward sustainable forestry.
