Punjab Forestry Research Institute (PFRI) Gatwala Faisalabad

For providing scientific support to accelerate the developmental activities in the Punjab province, Punjab Forestry Research Institute (PFRI) was established under a developmental project. It started functioning during July, 1986. PFRI has good advantage of cluster of sister Research Institutions at Faisalabad like Ayub Agricultural Research Institute (AARI), Nuclear Institute for Agriculture & Biology (NIAB), National Institute for Biotechnology and Genetic Engineering (NIBGE) & University of Agriculture Faisalabad (UAF).

Forests Services Academy Ghora Gali Murree

The British started scientific forest management in Indo-Pak Sub-Continent in 1864. Main focus was to fulfill the requirements of Railways and Navy. Pioneer Institution Of Forestry Education in Subcontinent was British Imperial Forest School at Dehra Dun 1878, by Dietrich Brandis. The Founder and the 1st Inspector General of Forests in Indo-Pak Sub Continent. 1881 Punjab Forest School Ghoragali was Established for Forestry Education.

Wildlife Research Center Gatwala, Faisalabad

The Wildlife Department has a research institute in Gatwala, Faisalabad. The institute has two office blocks, 4500 sq. ft. each. The details of the training center are as below:

Wildlife Training School Pirowal, District Khanewal

In service training / refresher courses for field staff (Wildlife Supervisors, Wildlife Inspectors, Wildlife Watchers, Field Compounders & Hatchery man) are conducted at the training school. The details of the training School and hostel are as below: - Year Of Completion: 1995-97 Infrastructure: i.Two class rooms & a library (2000 Sft) ii.Two hostels for wildlife inspectors & wildlife watchers (3500 Sft and 3000 Sft). Nature of Training courses: Wildlife Management, Legislation, Wildlife of Punjab, Punjab Wildlife Act, Wildlife Survey and Census Techniques, Official correspondence, P.T / Drill, Study tours and general duties.

Fisheries Research & Training Institute Manawan, Lahore

Previously, the Training and Research Institute functioned as two independent units till June, 1986 but later the two institutions were merged into a single unit under the nomenclature "Research and Training Institute", headed by a Director.
